next steps -  Planning - look at our planning template considering page 111 of Classroom Talk: Understanding dialogue, pedagogy and practice (Edwards-Groves et al. 2014) as well as frame from the video - Elicit ideas, First hand experience, additional info, revise/refine ideas .  This is a good frame for science. Planning - include learning intention for science as well as for dialogue and reflect at end. Planning - create a doc with questions/prompts from Classroom Talk we can cut & paste into planning. Have my planning in front of me on a clipboard - script.  Use it. Book day in holiday for collaborative planning with Sally, Karli, Alida, Isabel, Sam. Book days with Susan S for 2020 TLIF team and staff call back day.

Maths Games and Number Sense - great ideas from Marie Hirst

 Maths -  This video (Marie Hirst, NZ ) highlights importance of our maths teaching having engaging activities to build number sense - with an emphasises low entry and high ceiling activities. Many practical, useful and fun ideas for teaching maths.  It was interesting to see how she adapted games to add interest, extend learning, extend talk etc. Games Consider :  Do game engages all at the same time?  Does it depend on speed or luck?  Goldilocks principal (not too easy, not too hard).  Are games easy to learn, prepare?  A good tip is to make little videos made that show children how to play games. Tip - in games, set up so it's pairs against pairs - means more discussion. Toolkit: Your Daily Drive, hosted by Fiona Grant

Fiona's slides Daily was the key here - Fiona's message is that students need to practise using their Drive everyday. This needs to be routine and is part of being a 'Cyber Smart Learner'.  For example - can you find your Drive quickly. There are three quick ways to find your Drive - it's good to know these. Some people like bookmarks, some like short cuts... We need to be planning and designing opportunities each day for students to work with Drive  - this doc is for teachers - we can check there are opportunities for children to do at least one activity similar to these each day. So for example, at writing time teachers might use the 'Weekly Writing Doc' for students daily journalling. These 'cyber smart' learning and practise activities would be a part of the learning already happening, rather than 'another thing', or something done as well as. There's lesson plans for teachers.
